As the great-grandson of Nash County sharecroppers and the grandson of an American war veteran, when it comes to Rocky Mount, Kevin's roots run deep --- and running even deeper is his passion to serve the people who call Rocky Mount home.
Raised mostly on the city's south side by working class parents, Kevin was the first in his family to attend college where he earned a degree in engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. After college graduation, he immediately began a career working in federal policy where he was recognized by the White House for his work.
“Fresh ideas, energetic leadership, with a proven record of service...”
Despite his success in Washington D.C., Kevin remained committed to making life better for the people of Rocky Mount. This commitment led to the creation of an educational foundation that has directly helped dozens of area students pay for college and helped hundreds more improve reading literacy & prepare for the workforce.
In addition to his experience in government and his proven leadership ability in education & workforce development, Kevin has also been recognized by WRAL News for his service and was unanimously selected as an inductee into Nash Central High School's Hall of Fame.
